Motorcyclist dies after crashing into deer

NEWTON CO., Ind. (WLFI) — A Newton County man is dead after colliding with a deer on his motorcycle.

Around 9 a.m. Sunday, Newton County Sheriff’s Department deputies say 45-year-old Carl Rutledge was traveling south on CR 400 W when he hit a deer and was thrown from his motorcycle.

He was found unresponsive and was not wearing a helmet.

Rutledge was taken to Riverside Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

CR 400 W was shut down just north north of CR 275 S until around 11 a.m. for investigation and cleanup.
