Experts: Book flights now to save on holiday travel

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Thanksgiving is less than eight weeks away and that means it’s time to start thinking about holiday travel.

Orbitz says now is the best time to find deals on holiday flights. If you’re going out of town for any of the major holidays, this week is the time to buy your tickets. 

Oct. 6 is the best day to find a deal on Thanksgiving flights. Oct. 9 is the time to book Christmas flights. On Oct. 10, you’ll find the best deal on New Year’s Eve flights.

Experts said it’s all about what specific days you travel. If you really want to save, you could fly on the actual holiday. That will save you an extra 20-40 percent. If you wait much longer to book holiday flights, industry experts warn to be careful – holiday fares can go up $5-8 per day in the fall.
