Annual ceremony remembers fallen firefighters

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – When everyone else is run away from a burning building, firefighters run towards the burning the structure.

Those brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice are not forgotten.

Their selfless acts of bravery were remembered during the Reading of the Names Service at the Marion County Fallen Firefighters Memorial Plaza.

This year is 19 consecutive years for the annual ceremony.

During the memorial service, names were read aloud followed by a ringing of the historic bell tower.

Carnations were also placed at the bottom at the monument.
