Fire department helping families prepare for emergencies

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – The Fishers Fire Department made sure kids and families were ready in case of an emergency on Wednesday night.

The newly renovated Station 392 hosted an open house, and kids had the opportunity to look at the fire trucks up close and meet with firefighters.

“Have an escape plan from their house, (and) know two ways out of every room, get out, stay out, go to your meeting place. Maybe its your mail box, maybe its your neighbors porch, (but) decide it as a family. This is a great opportunity for every body to work together and everybody to know exactly what they’re going to do in an emergency,” said Fishers Fire Department Captain, John Mehling.

Families also got a tour of the fire station and learned safety tips.
