IFD, State Farm deliver smoke detectors to Indy homes

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis firefighters planned to go door to door Wednesday to make sure families stay safe during Fire Prevention Month.

24-Hour News 8 met up with IFD firefighters from Ladder 30 and two State Farm representatives who went around to local neighborhoods handing out smoke alarms.

When they got to a home near 30th Street and Georgetown Road, they met three children who were very excited to see them. The firefighters let them climb into the fire truck and see what it’s like to be a firefighter.

State Farm provided all of the 10-year sealed smoke detectors that are up-to-date with the city ordinance passed last year.

They will be out again next Wednesday to hand out more smoke detectors.
