Engineering students get surprise visit from Team Andretti driver

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Riverside Junior High School students received a surprise substitute teacher Friday morning. Race car driver Dalton Kellett rolled in a bright yellow IndyCar into their classroom.

The room full of engineering students appeared caught off guard at first.

Their teacher arranged the meet and greet, saying it would help them apply what they are learning.

After the shock was over, Kellett taught the 8th graders different drag resistances.

Will Bilski passed the test when asked what he learned.

“Regular cars are up from the ground. Race cars don’t have as much ground clearance. The lower the car is, the more resistance and drag you will get,” said 8th grade student Will Bilski.

Students will begin working on a model version of the car they saw in person next week.
