Colts, Patriots ticket sales slow, prices dropping

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Despite three wins a row, excitement for this coming weekend’s Colts, Patriots game is waning.

“If the Colts were playing as well as New England, I think the prices would be higher now than they were a month ago,” said Mike Peduto, the owner of Circle City Tickets.

The game was billed as the game of the season after the Deflategate controversy. If a judge hadn’t overturned Tom Brady’s suspension, this weekend’s game would’ve been his first game of the season.

But he’s been playing, and Colts quarterback Andrew Luck hasn’t been on the field.

“Hopefully Luck can pull it off,” said Shane Schulz while shopping at the Colts Pro Shop at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“I don’t imagine the Colts are going to do very well,” said Stephan Jeffrey outside the stadium.

And ticket sales are resembling the fan apathy.

“It’s not as compelling of a matchup because the Colts are struggling some and New England is doing so well,” said Peduto.

Circle City Tickets still has tickets available from $140 up to a $1,000. The prices are comparable to last year’s regular season game in November. The difference is this year prices are going down instead of up.

Peduto says injuries and poor performance on behalf of the Colts aren’t helping.

“The demand is good, I mean it’s still the second best game after the Denver game right now, but in order for those prices to stay up or even go up on a game like this, both teams almost have to be undefeated or just playing at a really high level,” said Peduto. “Even though they’ve won three in a row, its been in the division which is admittedly one of the weaker divisions in football.”

But for some fans they still can’t shake Deflategate.

“Right after Deflategate it will be fun to see how we come out an play,” said Colts fan Dave Witzerman.

“I’m going to watch the game and stuff, but why bother to have hope for my team? Maybe if my team was cheating, sure, maybe there’s a chance the Colts could pull it out,” said Jeffrey.

Peduto also says the time of the game isn’t helping ticket sales. He says because the game is in prime time many season ticket holders, and those who bought tickets months ago, may choose not to go.
