Family of late sheriff’s deputy donates $6,000 to help needy

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) – The family of a Grant County sheriff deputy who died two years ago in a motorcycle crash has donated $6,000 to the Howard County Benevolent Fund, which goes to the sheriff department’s Christmas fund to shop for needy families.

The Kokomo Tribune reports the money was donated Friday in memory of Lt. Mike Andry. Howard County sheriff’s Capt. Harold Vincent said it was the largest single donation to the fund.

Andry’s sister Carol Robbins, said the department help organize the 2nd Annual Mike Andry Memorial Ride that featured 107 motorcycles and raised $10,000. The rest of the money was donated to the Grant County Sheriff Department’s Gifts For Kids and Marion’s Cops & Kids.
