Neighborhood association meets about violence in area

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An uptick in violence in the Butler-Tarkington area, led to a special guest at a neighborhood’s association meeting on Monday night.

Rev. Charles Harrison of the Ten Point Coalition was invited to talk with residents about violence and crime.

In the last couple of months there have been several shootings in the area, including one that left a ten-year-old boy dead.

The head of the neighborhood association said the meeting was to give residents a chance to hear from Harrison about how to help police keep their neighborhood safe.

“He is on the ground talking with family and friends of victims, so we felt it was important to invite him to talk about what is happening, what he’s seeing,” said Ted Feeney, the neighborhood association president.

Harrison reminded neighbors to get to know one another and if they see anything suspicious to report it to police.
