Omaha police seek Fort Wayne man accused of murder

OMAHA, Neb. (WANE) – Police in Omaha, Nebraska are asking for help finding a man accused of a double-murder.

The Omaha Police Homicide Unit has an arrest warrant for Michael Nolt, 53, who is from the Fort Wayne and New Haven area. He’s accused of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and three counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony.

Police believe he may be driving a 2015 white Chevy Impala. Police described Nolt as a white man, 5-feet 11-inches and 160 pounds. He has gray hair, hazel eyes and wears glasses.

Omaha police said Nolt and the victims knew each other and they were also from the Fort Wayne and New Haven area.

Police said Nolt should be considered armed and dangerous. The weapon used in this double murder has not been recovered.

“Michael Nolt came into our community and murdered two people and attempted to murder a third person, an Omaha citizen with her children present. Through the professional work of the Omaha Police Homicide Unit, assisted by the Fort Wayne, Indiana and the New Haven, Indiana police departments, arrest warrants have been authorized for Nolt.  We are asking the public to notify law enforcement if you know the whereabouts of our suspect so he can be held accountable for his brutal crimes,” Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP. All tips will remain anonymous. Tips on all homicides that lead to an arrest will be paid up to $25,000.00.

The Fort Wayne and New Haven police have been assisting the Omaha Police Homicide detectives in this case.
