IMPD solves 2012 double homicide investigation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials said on Wednesday their detectives had solved a double homicide investigation from 2012.

The investigation began on Aug. 22, 2012 when officers responded to the report of possible human remains found in a shallow grave on North Gladstone Avenue. Detectives arrived and confirmed there were two sets of human remains behind a home in the 2800 block.

The victims were identified as 39-year-old Juan Valencia and 40-year-old Raul Villalobos. Their deaths were ruled homicides.

According to IMPD, someone recently came forward with information about the investigation. They were able to determine the suspect in the double homicide as Charles Spurlock. Police say Spurlock was the victim of a still-unsolved homicide that happened about four months later, on Dec. 31, 2012.

Officials say the person who came forward provided enough evidence and the case is now closed. They say they don’t believe there are any other suspects in the case.

Police say if anyone has information on the murder of Spurlock, they’re urged to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
