Children arrive home to burglary in progress, follow suspects

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Authorities in Shelby County are searching for two burglary suspects.

Children arrived to their home in northwestern Shelby County around 2 p.m. Oct. 8 to find a burglary in progress, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.

A Pontiac Montana minivan was allegedly sitting in the driveway with a female driver.

A white male and black male came out of the attached garage and reportedly fled with the woman in the minivan.

The sheriff’s department says the children followed the van until it went down a dead end road and stopped.

One of the males got out and reached to his waist for what the children believe was a gun, according to the sheriff’s department.

Authorities believe the suspects fled into Marion County via Southeastern Avenue to Carroll Road to Indian Creek Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detective Sgt. Darren Chandler at 317-398-6661 or dchandler@co.shelby.in.us.
