Father pleads guilty in 2-month-old son’s death
JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A father in Greenwood has pleaded guilty in the beating death of his two-month-old son.
Ian Defenderfer was arrested and charged in the case back in Oct. 2014.
Defenderfer pleaded guilty to battery on a child resulting in death, a level two felony.
A charge of aggravated battery was dropped.
According to court documents, Defenderfer told the baby’s mother that he shook the child.
The baby died at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health on Oct. 5.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office later said that the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head and also had signs of Shaken Baby Syndrome.
Defenderfer is set to be sentenced on Jan. 28, 2016.
