Man sentenced following crash that killed child

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A Frankfort man has been sentenced to prison and probation time following a crash that killed a child.

Victor Valencia, 30, was driving with his cousin, 29-year-old Francisco Valencia, on May 2 in Clinton County when authorities said he ran a stop sign on County Road 200 West and hit a car, killing 3-year-old Madison Delarosa.

Both Victor and Francisco Valencia ran off. But when a stranger stopped to help, police said Victor stole their car and fled.

Both men were later arrested.

Victor Valencia was sentenced on Oct. 9, after pleading guilty in August to three felony charges including reckless homicide. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and two years probation. As part of his plea agreement, seven other charges were dropped.

Francisco Valencia pleaded guilty in August to false informing and resisting law enforcement. He was sentenced to six months in the Clinton County Jail.
