No jail time for woman who faked nursing license, cancer

MCCORDSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – A McCordsville woman who posed as a nurse won’t serve time in jail.

Twenty-nine-year-old Ashley Trent was sentenced Thursday to 7½ years on probation as part of an agreement with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office, 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at The Greenfield Daily Reporter report.

Trent pleaded guilty in September to forgery, theft and practicing nursing without a license. Investigators say she faked a nursing license in order to be hired at Developmental Service Alternatives in Greenfield in 2012. They say she provided medical care at several area facilities for more than a year before learning her license was forged.

Trent also faces charges in Marion and Hamilton counties, where she worked at other Developmental Service Alternatives branches. Investigators said she forged dozens of documents while she worked for the company.

Trent also fake a cancer diagnosis to receive time off work and to avoid being reprimanded for poor job performance, according to court documents.
