Man found dead of apparent gunshot wound on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound on the front porch of a home on the east side of the city Sunday, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers were called to the 4800 block of East 18th Street around 11:30 a.m.

Gregory Watkins, 40, of Indianapolis, was found with an apparent gunshot wound on the front porch of the home.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they were called to the area around 2 a.m. Sunday but were unable to find anyone at that time.

No suspect information has been released, but police believe the shooting was not random.
