17-year-old killed, 2 injured in crash near Browntown

JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A 17-year-old died and two others were taken to an Indianapolis hospital after a head-on collision just east of Brownstown on Sunday.

24-Hour News 8’s news partners at Tribtown.com, the teen was driving east on County Road 25 North in his 1987 Nissan Mazima on Sunday around 2:30 p.m. A 2004 Nissan Mazima was also involved.

According to new release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Aaron Michael Greathouse of Seymour was pronounced dead at the scene.

Caleb P. Cartmel, 21, and Ian T. Cartmel, 17, of the second vehicle were flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital. It was not clear the extend of their injuries.

The news release says the car Caleb was driving caught fire. Caleb was thrown from the vehicle. Ian was trapped inside and was rescued by witnesses who saw the crash.
