A home run: West Virginia couple wed on field where they met

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – A West Virginia couple who first met nine years ago on a softball diamond decided to team up there, too, tying the knot at home plate.

Larry Casteel and Debbie Gould were married Saturday in Morgantown on Pam Berry Field. Gould told The Dominion Post the two met on the field where she was playing and he was an umpire.

The ballpark theme was complete with the wedding party attired in softball uniforms reflecting the colors of the couple’s conflicting allegiances: Gould is a native New Yorker and a Yankees fan, while Casteel roots for their rival, the Boston Red Sox.

But Gould said, “Love is blind.”

Once the ceremony was over, the couple walked through a tunnel of Louisville Sluggers held aloft by their friends and family.
