Richmond theater seeks $10K to pay for new furnace

RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) – An eastern Indiana theater is trying to raise $10,000 to help pay for a new furnace and other repairs so children rehearsing for upcoming shows can stay warm.

The (Richmond) Palladium-Item (http://pinews.co/1PtP74T ) reports about $500 has been raised so far for the new furnace recently installed in the annex of the Richmond Civic Theatre.

The annex is behind the theater’s main building and is used for upcoming show rehearsals, set construction and community meetings. About 50 children have been using the annex to prepare for a show next month.

Office manager Bonnie Miller says the previous furnace was at least 50 years old and had “literally rusted through.” The theater’s building fund is low because the main theater recently got a new roof, and its basement had extensive repairs done.
