Driver flown to Indy hospital after Vigo County crash

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A crash on U.S. 41 in southern Vigo County had lanes shut down near Honey Creek Middle School Thursday morning.

It happened after 8 a.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 at Carlisle Street. Lifeline was called after the crash, which shut down the southbound lanes of traffic while it landed and then took off.

A Vigo County Sheriff’s deputy said a man was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Officials identified him as John Cissell of Hymera.

The cause of the crash has not been released, but the minivan was off the road, in the ditch area and appeared to have rolled. VCSO also stated they do not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor.

Officials reports all lanes of traffic are now back open.
