A day before eviction, cancer patient receives helping hand from officers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man got a helping hand from Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officers on Friday.

IMPD officers ran a welfare check for “Edward” on Friday. According to IMPD, Edward has stage four cancer.

IMPD helps pay motel bill

IMPD’s Facebook post about Edward has quickly gone viral.

In the post, officers describe Edward as receiving a small check on the first of each month and having been denied local assistance.

He has lost his part-time job and was set to be evicted of his motel room. He was going to be kicked out Saturday after living there for the last three years.

The officers running the welfare check decided to pitch in and give Edward a hand, saying “there was only one thing to do in this situation.”

Edward’s motel bill is now paid up thanks to the men.

IMPD ended the post with “Closed no report!!”
