Code enforcement stops by haunted house for inspection

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Code enforcement inspectors with the Indiana State Fire Marsh stopped by a haunted house, but it wasn’t for a good spook.

The inspectors were the first through Indianapolis’ House of Trepidation to make sure it’s up to code.

Officials with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security say about 300 haunted houses are reviewed and given permits every year.

Inspectors make sure that the buildings have proper amount of exits and exit signs, and that the smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are working.

House of Trepidation is located in the 1900 block of South Meridian Street.
