INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives say they arrested a man on preliminary charges of murder and arson after a deadly fire on Thursday.

Police arrested 26-year-old JeanClaude Brown. They believe Brown set the fire, possibly for revenge.

Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters were called to duplex in the 3600 block of East New York Street for a fire around 3:30 a.m.

Police say 44-year-old Ralph Chew was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition. He later died of his injuries.

A couple who lived on the other side of the duplex were able to make it out OK.
