CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Two bodies have been recovered from a home in Clinton County following a fire Friday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to S. County Road 500 West around 3:15 p.m. following a report of an explosion.
Perry Township was the first of six fire departments in the area who responded to the fire. More than 60 firefighters worked to gain control of the fire.
“The explosion was so violent, it sent debris 100 yards away onto Interstate 65,” Perry Township Fire Chief Tracy Rose said.
Clinton County Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Jerrad Blacker tells WLFI-TV that the cause of the fire is still unknown.
The State Fire Marshal is conducting a joint investigation with the sheriff’s and coroner’s offices to determine the cause of the fire.
A press release is scheduled for Tuesday morning to reveal the cause of death and the identification of the two victims found.
