Woman pleads guilty in kidnapping, fake pregnancy case

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A woman who initially pleaded not guilty to kidnapping a 1-month-old baby and faking a pregnancy has now pleaded guilty in the case.

Desarai Kemp was arrested in Dec. 2014 after police say she kidnapped the infant from an apartment near 56th Street and Georgetown Road. Authorities say Kemp also stole a cellphone and took a car from the baby’s mother and grandmother.

She was found a few hours later in the 2500 block of Rader Street after police say they tracked the phone. The baby was safe and reunited with family members.

Kemp pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, arson, theft and auto theft after her arrest.

She’s scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 19.
