Muncie woman gets 6 years for helping to move murder victim

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – A 40-year-old Muncie woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for helping to move a murder victim’s body.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports Delaware County Judge Linda Ralu Wolfe on Monday sentenced Regina Miller to six years for assisting a criminal and 18 months for obstruction of justice. She ordered the terms be served concurrently.

Miller told police she helped Terry Rutledge move the body of 40-year-old Tonia Ingram in 2011 because she feared he might harm her or her children. However, Deputy Delaware County Prosecutor Zach Craig called Miller a “thug” and asked for the maximum 10-year sentence.

Rutledge is serving a 65-year murder sentence.

Police say Miller helped Rutledge remove the body from her home. The victim’s remains were found on fire along a street.
