Man accused of luring murder victim to Indy has trial set
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – A Muncie man will go to trial in January on charges he killed a man whose decomposed body was found eight months after he was reported missing.
The (Muncie) Star Press reports that a Jan. 25 trial is scheduled for 27-year-old Martize D. Kirkland. He is charged with murder, robbery, auto theft and being a felon in possession of a handgun.
Court records show that Kirkland told a friend he lured 23-year-old Jeremy Johnson to an abandoned Indianapolis home in October 2014 and killed him.
Johnson’s decomposed body was found in a wooded area of Indianapolis on June 16.
