INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Zoo wants some help narrowing down names for its new lion cubs.

The three new African lion cubs were born Sept. 21. They are the first to be born at the zoo since 2003. A female and two males were born to their parents, mother Zuri and father, Nyack.

Six names are now up for a vote. The top three will be given to the lion cubs. The names were chosen by zookeepers and are:

  • Enzi, meaning powerful
  • Zuberi, meaning strong
  • Sukari, meaning sweet
  • Mashaka, meaning troublemaker
  • Leland, meaning meadowland
  • Niara, meaning one with high purpose

Voting opened on Election Day on the Indianapolis Zoo’s Facebook page. Voting will close the night of Nov. 30, with the results being announced Dec. 1.

The lion cubs won’t be visible to the public until spring 2016.
