Vote count ends with tie in southern Indiana mayoral race

JASPER, Ind. (AP) – The vote count for mayor of the southern Indiana city of Jasper ended in a tie Tuesday night.

The (Jasper) Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1k99wj2 ) Republican Mayor Terry Seitz and Democratic challenger Wayne Schuetter both received 1,856 votes, with independent candidate Josh Budd getting 190 votes.

Voting machines were locked in the county clerk’s office Tuesday night as officials sorted out what’s next in trying to determine a winner.
