Gym using high flying techniques to focus on health

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A local gym, that’s also calling itself a “circus school”, is focusing on aerial fitness.

24-Hour News 8 got an inside look at “Cirque Indy.”

Owner and lead instructor at Cirque Indy Mary Brumbaugh shared how aerial fitness works. She said they borrow techniques from the circus and they teach fitness classes based around using fabric.

“It really helps students and practitioners avoid the boredom of the gym and get their workout,” said Brumbaugh.

Brumbaugh says students learn a combination of flips and it can be empowering to see what they can do with the fabric. The routines are something you might see on Cirque du Soleil.
