Police find body inside Fort Wayne car

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating the death of a man after he was found inside a car early Wednesday morning.

Police were called to an alley in the 300 block of Kinnaird Avenue around 12:30 a.m. for a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and found a man in the driver’s seat.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead.

Investigators have not been able to determine how the man died. A preliminary investigation was inconclusive and investigators were waiting to take a closer look with the county coroner.

A neighbor initially called police about the vehicle, but investigators believe the vehicle was sitting in the alley for several hours prior.

Detectives talked with people who lived in the area but none reported hearing a disturbance or any gunshots. Crime scene technicians were photographing and collecting possible evidence.

The victim has not been identified and police have not determined if the victim is the owner of the car.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the man’s identity along with a cause and manner of death.
