Assembly Hall makes changes to game day traffic patterns

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – On Friday the men’s basketball season tips-off at Purdue University and Indiana University Bloomington.

The Boilermakers take on North Carolina A&T University State. In Bloomington the Hoosiers will host Easter Illinois University.

Friday will be the first regular season game at Assembly Hall since renovations started at the historic venue. IU officials say there will be traffic and parking changes on game day due to construction.

Below is the game day traffic patterns fans need to be aware of:

Drivers need to be aware of a new pre-game traffic pattern at the one way eastbound intersection of Dunn and 17th Streets. Cars travelling eastbound from Walnut on 17th Street will no longer have to turn right/southbound on Dunn and may travel eastbound on 17th Street to Walnut Grove.

No traffic is allowed between Walnut Grove and Fee Lane.

Fans with zoned parking passes may have to enter lots at different locations from where they have entered in the past. Below is a list of zoned parking instructions:

Pre-Game:

  • Zone A – Enter through Gate 11 off SR 45/46 Bypass. Access through Gate 4 will not be permitted.
  • Zone B – Enter through Gate 4 by making a left off 17th Street or by crossing 17th Street via Woodlawn Avenue. Upon entering Gate 4 please proceed through Zone C and park in any available space within Zone B.
  • Zone C – Enter through Gate 2 by making a left off 17th Street or by crossing 17th Street via Woodlawn Avenue.
  • Zone D – Enter through Gate 2 by making a left off 17th Street or by crossing 17th Street via Walnut Grove.
  • Zone F – Enter through Gate 14 off Fee Lane.
  • Zone G – Enter through Gate 12 off Fee Lane.
  • Zone I – Enter through Gate 12 off Fee Lane. Please proceed through the southern part of Zone G and park in any available spot within Zone I.
  • Zone J – Enter through Gate 12 off Fee Lane. Please proceed through the southern part of Zone G and park in any available spot within Zone J.
  • Zone K – Enter through Gate 9 off Dunn Street. Enter through Gates 10 or 11 off SR 45/46 Bypass.
  • Zone L – Enter through either Gate 8 or Gate 9 off Dunn Street.

Post-Game:

  • Zone A – Exit through Gate 9 north onto Dunn Street. Exit through Gate 11 onto SR 45/46 Bypass. Exiting through Gate 10 will not be permitted.
  • Zone B – Exit through Gate 4 onto 17th Street going westbound, onto Woodlawn Avenue going southbound, or Gate 13 onto fee Lane.
  • Zone C – Exit through Gate 4 onto 17th Street going westbound, onto Woodlawn Avenue going southbound.
  • Zone D – Exit out of Gate 2 onto 17th Street going westbound or onto Walnut Grove going southbound.
  • Zone F – Exit out of Gate 14 onto Fee Lane.
  • Zone G – Exit through Gate 12 off Fee Lane going northbound.
  • Zone I – Exit through Gate 12 off Fee Lane going northbound.
  • Zone J -Exit through Gate 12 off Fee Lane going northbound.
  • Zone K – Exit through Gate 9 north onto Dunn Street. Exit through Gate 11 onto SR 45/46 Bypass. Exiting through Gate 10 will not be permitted.
  • Zone L – Exit through Gate 8 going northbound onto Dunn Street or going westbound onto 19th Street.

The University broke ground on the project in April. When it’s finished there will be a new entrance, updated bathrooms and a jumbotron.
