Hancock Co. toddler ingests pain killers; mom arrested

NEW PALESTINE, Ind. (WISH) – A Hancock County woman was arrested after police say her toddler tested positive for drugs after being admitted to a hospital.

Brooke Copp, 23, was arrested on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent causing bodily injury.

The 18-month-old tested positive for opioids, which are often prescription pain killers. Investigators said they were working with the Indiana Department of Child Services to figure out how the child ended up ingesting the drugs.
