INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are investigating a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis Monday morning that left a woman injured.
It happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. at the Shadeland Inn, in the 3500 block of North Shadeland Avenue.
According to IMPD, the female victim was shot once in the leg and was awake and breathing after the shooting. She was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.
Officials say the shooting happened during a robbery inside a motel room. Police at the scene said there were six people inside the room at the time. They said the room is rented, but not by the victim or the shooter.
According to IMPD, the suspect took off after the shooting. No description was immediately available. If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
The Shadeland Inn was one of eight hotels involved in a series of hotel sweeps by the Department of Code Enforcement in September.
