INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Three people have been displaced from their home after a fire Monday morning on the city’s southwest side.

Wayne Township Fire officials say the fire started at a home in the 4900 block of Regent Street around 7:30 a.m. They say neighbors noticed the fire and alerted the residents.

A mother and 3-year-old were at home. Both were able to escape without injury, officials say. The husband had already left the home before the fire started.

Crews worked to clear heavy fire and smoke coming from the attic. Firefighters were able to put out the fire in about 15 minutes.

No one was injured in the fire. Investigators estimate total damage to be around $30,000. Wayne Township Fire Victims Assistance will help the family with basic needs.

Investigators are still working to determine a cause.
