COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Bartholomew County are searching for an escaped inmate.
Officials say the suspect, identified as Dustin Evans, got away in Columbus at 8th Street and Central Place on Tuesday morning. They say the suspect was in Columbus to be taken to the hospital.
According to the Edinburg Police Chief David Mann, the suspect told the officer that he was going to be sick. The officer let the suspect out and he took off.
Chief Mann said the officer was not hurt during the escape.
Evans is wanted on a Scott County warrant for possession of precursors. He was also arrested on preliminary charges of possession of meth, possession of paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement.
