#Blacklivesmatter group gathers on Butler Univ. campus

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Students on the Butler University campus gathered to represent the #Blacklivesmatter campaign on Wednesday night.

Organizers said they wanted to re-create the identity of the black student, specifically at predominantly white institutions. They said minority students feel under represented on campus.

They wanted university administrations, particularly at Butler University, to issue a public statement affirming the #Blacklivesmatter campaign.

Speakers at the event paid tribute to black lives lost in incidents involving police by reading some of their stories and blowing out a candle in their memory.
