IMPD: 1 dead in double shooting on city’s northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One person died and another person was injured in a shooting on the city’s northeast side Thursday afternoon, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

IMPD responded to the 6100 block of East 40th Street just before 2 p.m.

When police arrived they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Terrence Parham, 23, was found dead inside a red pickup truck.

A few yards away, 20-year-old Chavieon Gray was found with gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Charles Archey, 29, was found south of the shooting location near East 38th Street and North Arlington Avenue.

Police say Archey was inside the pickup truck and involved in an exchange of gunfire. He was preliminarily charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Police have taken one person into custody for questioning.
