Purdue Calumet leader to serve as new campus’ 1st chancellor

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – Purdue University Calumet’s chancellor has been chosen as the first leader of what will soon become Indiana’s fifth-largest public university.

Thomas Keon will take over as Purdue University Northwest’s chancellor on July 1 when Purdue University Calumet and Purdue University North Central officially merge into one school. Keon has been Purdue Calumet’s chancellor since 2011.

Purdue President Mitch Daniels says Keon has an extraordinary opportunity to lead what will be the fifth-largest public university in Indiana.

James Dworkin has served as chancellor of Purdue North Central since 2000 and he’ll remain in his post through June 30. After a sabbatical year, Dworkin will return to Purdue’s West Lafayette campus in fall 2017 as a full professor in Krannert School of Management.
