IMPD looking for ‘several’ vehicles in fatal hit-and-run

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police in Indianapolis are looking for the public’s help in solving a fatal hit-and-run that happened on Sunday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers say the crash happened in the 3600 block of North Mitthoefer Road just after 9 p.m. At the scene police found 21-year-old Devan Matthews, who had been struck by several vehicles.

The first car hit Matthews when he was attempting to cross Mitthoefer Road. A witness told police that a black pickup truck was traveling southbound when Matthews was struck. That vehicle continued southbound after hitting Matthews.

After the pickup, Matthews was hit by four other vehicles – two of which stayed at the scene while the other two fled. One car was described as a red, four-door vehicle. The second was described as a silver Pontiac.
