Viral Target coupon offering 50% off debunked

AUSTIN (KXAN) – If it’s too good to be true, it probably is. Such is the case with a seemingly legitimate coupon making the rounds before the biggest shopping day of the year.

According to The Consumerist, the ‘coupon’ started crawling across the Internet this month as people shared a link from grab-coupons.com. Others were sharing a link from holidayschristmas.com or Coupon-Christmas.com.

When a person visits the pages, they’re asked to share something from their Facebook or take a survey, which is the main purpose of the scam. They want your information.

Several people took to social media to ask Target if they were going to be able score big this holiday season, only to be let down.

The Better Business Bureau has been monitoring scams like this one since last year. Make sure to always look for a privacy policy and do a web search before inputting your private info.
