FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – For this Small Business Saturday, one Hamilton County community is stepping up to help its owners and give shoppers a chance to win prizes.
For some owners, Small Business Saturday has become a welcomed way to get more people into their stores.
“We’re offering, with a $50 dollar purchase, a jar of the local wildflower honey,” North Star owner Pam Alvoher-Ray said.
At the 1 and Only Fitness center, the owner is hoping Saturday will bring more clients.
“We got some terrific deals for prospective members, as well as current members,” 1 and Only Fitness owner Mike Melloh said.
They are offering bargains you won’t just find in a couple stores, but throughout Fishers. This is because nearly 40 stores are offering special Saturday discounts.
It’s part of a shop Fishers event. The city partnered with owners to get them to offer deals, and in turn, the city is offering prizes to shoppers who participate.
Winning one of the prizes is easy too. All you need is a smartphone, and after you make a purchase, just show it and take a photo. Then upload it to social media, using the hashtag, “#ShopFishers.”
“I think it’s a great way for the city to give back and support all of us as we try to make our businesses successful and contribute to the community,” Melloh said.
“We love having the city help us to promote all of us small businesses, and to have a day where there’s an event where their doing some extra advertising, helping us,” Alvoher-Ray said.
It’s not just uploading photos to social media. If you visit three stores and upload keywords to the city’s Nickle Plate District app, you can win even more.
With much of the focus on IKEA coming to the city, owners like knowing the city hasn’t forgotten its small-town roots.
“We still have a quaint feel and to support all of us, especially the ones who have been here a long time, so it’s a good thing,” Alvoher-Ray said.
