GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — A debate is brewing over a proposed Center Grove High School athletic facility.
The school board has approved a $10 million field house at the high school.
It would include an indoor, six-lane track and four basketball court-sized playing areas, according to 24-Hour News 8 partner The Daily Journal.
Not everyone supports the plan.
Opponents met Saturday to collect petitions in an attempt to legally block the project.
“Their priorities are off,” Frank Rossa said. “The focus should be on education instead of building these big sports palaces.”
He added, “It’s excessive. A couple of school board members mention renting out to division 2 schools. I don’t know why we need a facility this large for a high school.”
Both supporters and opponents of the plan have until mid-December to collect petitions.
Whoever gets the most signatures wins.
