JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an illegal credit card scanner was found inside a gas pump.

Area authorities have been warning about gas pump card skimmers, which are used to steal credit card information.

An electrician working on a pump Nov. 25 found the scanner at the Circle K station on North Bluff Road in Greenwood, according to the sheriff’s office.

The electrician told police the locks to access the pump card reader are universal and anyone working at a gas station could have installed the scanner.

No arrests have been made.
