NASA releases photo of ‘Cheshire Cat’ galaxies
HOUSTON (WFLA) – NASA released a photo of a group of galaxies that look like a smiling cat celebrating the 100th anniversary of Albert Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.
The light of those galaxies is being stretched, according to NASA. The effect is called “gravitational lensing,” a phenomenon predicted the Theory of General Relativity.
According to NASA, the galaxies making the cat’s eyes are actually slamming into one another in a giant galactic collision. It was first published in November of 1915.
