Amazon shows off new delivery drone

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Amazon is showing off its latest delivery drone concept in a new video.

The company hopes its Prime Air project will one day result in faster package delivery.

In the video released Sunday, ex-“Top Gear” host Jeremy Clarkson moderates as an Amazon drone delivers a pair of shoes less than 30 minutes after an order is placed.

Here’s how Amazon explains its vision for the prototype aircraft:

We’re excited about Prime Air – a future delivery system from Amazon designed to safely get packages to customers in 30 minutes or less using small unmanned aerial vehicles, also called drones. Prime Air has great potential to enhance the services we already provide to millions of customers by providing rapid parcel delivery that will also increase the overall safety and efficiency of the transportation system.

When will you be able to take advantage of drone delivery?

“We will deploy when and where we have the regulatory support needed to safely realize our vision,” the company states on its Website. “We’re excited about this technology and one day using it to deliver packages to customers around the world in 30 minutes or less.”

Amazon has made a number of changes to the custom-made quadcopter since first announcing the project in 2013.
