COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Police arrested a Columbus man they said tried to use a counterfeit $50 bill at a grocery store Saturday night.
25-year old Joshua Olmstead faces a preliminary Level 6 Felony charge of Counterfeiting.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of Washington Street shortly before 9 p.m. When police arrived, they were provided the bill Olmstead allegedly tried to use and quickly determined it to be counterfeit.
A Columbus Police officer located Olmstead a short time later near the intersection of 15th Street and Lafayette Avenue.
Olmstead allegedly told officers that he attempted to use the fake bill and then left the store when the clerk kept the bill and informed him that law enforcement had been called.
