INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man who escaped from an Edinburgh police officer November 17 was found in Indianapolis Monday night.
Dustin A. Evans was found in a vehicle on the city’s east side around 6:30 p.m. according to The (Columbus) Republic.
Columbus Police spokesman Sgt. Matt Harris said Evans was found while Columbus police, the U.S. Marshal’s office and the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team followed up on a tip from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and Edinburgh police.
Evans was arrested November 17 on an outstanding warrant in Scott County. At that time, officers allegedly found methamphetamine and paraphernalia on Evans, and he was going to be arrested on those charges, along with resisting law enforcement.
Evans escaped while being transported to the Bartholomew County Jail from Columbus Regional Hospital. He told the officer transporting him that he was going to be sick. After the officer stopped so he wouldn’t get sick in the car, Evans managed to escape while handcuffed as the officer attempted to put him back into the car.
