West Lafayette Post Office open on Sundays for holiday season

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The West Lafayette Post Office is running seven days a week in preparation for the busy holiday season.

From now until Christmas, the office will be open from 1-3 p.m. on Sundays. The extra day is supposed to help with the long lines at the post office.

West Lafayette is one of the top three zip codes in the state for the number of processed packages. Post office manager Barbara Matson said they’re testing other ways to shorten lines as well.

“We’ve gotten really creative on the technology that we have,” said Matson. “In West Lafayette, it is one of the test sites, we have this little hand held iPod, and we’ve actually had it for two years now – where if you find the person in the lobby with the red jacket on, they can sell you your stamps right out of their little fanny pack.”

Matson also reminds people to put your mail on hold if you’re leaving for four or more days.
