Residents raise concerns about proposed I-69 routes

MOORESVILLE, Ind. (AP) – Proposed routes for the final leg of Indiana’s Interstate 69 extension project have some residents fearful of what could happen to their homes.

State highway officials are holding meetings this week to take public comments about the five proposed routes for the highway between Martinsville and Indianapolis. A final recommendation isn’t expected until 2017.

Two proposed routes go north from the current Indiana 37 around the town of Mooresville, hooking up with I-70 just west of Plainfield.

Clint Cohen says one of those routes would go right through the barn on his Morgan County farm.

Another route follows the Indiana 37 corridor to I-465. Jeff Parsons says he and his wife already hear Indiana 37 traffic from their home and worry about I-69 being nearby.
